The Dark Knight (2008)

I saw this movie in theaters twice, but it wasn’t until I was studying the shots from it that I noticed it switches back and forth between two different aspect ratios 2.4:1 and 1.78:1. I realize that it was shot in two different formats 35mm and Imax, but I find it interesting that Nolan didn’t choose to do a little dropping on some of the scenes to make the aspect ratios consistent throughout. Intriguing.
