this was pretty impressive. not nearly as miserable and physically dark as the book, but as good as could be filmed. the director said that there were just plenty of wrecked places in the u.s. to use for sets that they didn’t really have to create much. that was a surprise. still not sure how to feel about the ending and the way they tighten up the loose parts of the book to connect the man/boy and veteran’s family. this story is one for the ages.
