I would strongly recommend listening to Zsigmond’s audio commentary on the Legacy Series edition of “The Deer Hunter” DVD. Vilmos talks all about how he approached the subject matter, he talked about lighting, composition, lenses and cinematography in general. If you like Zsigmond’s work, you’ve got to hear his commentary.
